Direct flights may be resumed between Russia and Jordan

Direct flights may be resumed between Russia and Jordan 21.02.2024
In 2023, 24,133 Russians visited Jordan, which exceeded the 2022 figure by 50%, but did not reach the results of 2019 (62 thousand trips). Jordan expects that the launch of direct flights will boost demand.

“This spring, Royal Jordanian’s plans to resume flights to Moscow will finally be implemented. According to the plan, flights should start on April 1, but perhaps the start will be delayed by a couple of weeks. The resumption of direct flights will significantly stimulate demand. We are counting on a fairly quick resumption of the lost volumes of Russian tourist flow,” ATOR quotes Majd Abu-Arquba, a representative of the Jordan Tourism Authority.

In 2023, Russians mainly vacationed in the Dead and Red Seas. The Aqaba resort on the Red Sea coast was visited by 20,767 Russian citizens in 2023. It is clarified that many Russians who visited Aqaba in 2023 came there as part of day trips. This is evidenced by hotel statistics - out of more than 20 thousand resort guests, only 4,063 Russians stayed in Aqaba hotels.
